Symbolic return to the old street network, and its restoration together with the former topography of the area. The story of the demolished neighborhoods through planning and proposal for the Memorial of the Demolitions of the Communist Era.
Objectives:
Izvor Park transformation into an urban pole of attraction in the city.
Populating and animating the pedestrian area. Reconstruction of pedestrian links and accessibility routes to nearby areas.
Increasing the attractiveness and appropriateness to meet the criteria of a contemporary urban park. Tourist attraction.
Specific objectives:
-Maintenance, remodeling and upgrading green / public space to provide a modern park, appropriate and consistent, according to the needs of its users;
-Enhancing the use of the public spaces;
-Making use of the pedestrian junction characteristics;
-Increasing accessibility to the park by opening more points of entry, establishment of pedestrian crossings on the artery roads;
-Building a unitary identity by remembering old stories and recovering routes through the historic approach of rebuilding on a 1:1 scale the streets prior to the demolition in the '80s;
-Attract a mixed public by implementing various functions that complement eachother: green spaces for recreation (including staying on the grass), various facilities, children's play areas, bicycle paths, upgraded pedestrian facilities, places of recreation and halt, memorial exhibition for the demolition of Uranus neighborhood;
-Expanding supply of cultural and economic activities in the area;
-Attracting a larger number of visitors;
-Increasing the sense of belonging and identification with the city's historic past.
