"We believe that nor using characteristics of the old town, neither inventing fully new modern open spaces is an answer to the layered problems of the town center but an integrated strategy that combines both of the above without beeing any of them. The concept is to "mittigate" the contradictions.
The strategy is to create density through hierachy and alternatives following suggestions from the past (defence walls, drained water beds, streets, old harbour market) translated into modern presences.
As we need to achieve symbolic value for certain public spaces we use analogy tools (the amber, the river) and true elements embodied with significance (the lime tree, the wooden deck, the stone)."
